YOU ARE DIFFERENT FOR A REASON
"I think every person has their own identity and beauty. Everyone being different is what is really beautiful. If we were all the same, it would be boring." - Tila Tequila
Do you fit into the mould, like others? Or are you the type who's the eccentric circle in the midst of the concentric lot? Do you find that you're the square peg trying to force yourself into the round hole? Being different in a group or environment can be hurting, sometimes.
Mary Ann Bird was born with multiple birth defects. She suffered not only from her physical impairments but also with the emotional trauma of "being different" from others. Hear her;
I grew up knowing I was different, and I hated it. I was born with a cleft palate, and when I started school, my classmates made it clear to me how I looked to others: a little girl with a misshapen lip, crooked nose, lopsided teeth, and garbled speech. When schoolmates asked, "What happened to your lip?" I'd tell them I'd fallen and cut it on a piece of glass. Somehow it seemed more acceptable to have suffered an accident than to have been born different. I was convinced that no one outside my family could love me.
In life situations arise every time, in our lives (everyday even), that we take and try to tabulate against the situations in the lives of our friends, colleagues or family members. And discover, to our greatest chagrin that we seem to be the, "odd man out". Your friends; are all getting married and you can't find any guy or lady around; it seems like all the good guys or ladies have all been taken up. Your siblings are buying guys, getting better jobs, and you can't understand why you don't even have one, 5yrs after graduation. The irony of it all (sometimes), is that when you consider these situations, you realize you're better; more spiritually obedient to God than they. You graduated with better grades in school...and so on. And you ask, "why me?"
The truth is, if they went through half of what you've gone through so far, they'd not have survived it. God allows you go through these experiences because you're the only one who can survive it. He keeps betting with the devil every time with His children; those he's proud of. It's true the situations are very uncomfortable for you right now, but He's building your muscles for where He's taking you.
Beloved, You cannot survive there looking frail, your experience today is His "gym" for your life. After all said and done, you'll have double for your trouble. In the midst of these storms He's nearer than you know, listen and you'll hear Him whispering "fear not, I'm with you...you're a work in progress". You're going through the fire because you're gold in the end, and you can't afford to be put through cold; else your true value won't be released! You can't afford to "fit into the mould", you're far too anointed for that. You're a masterpiece and you have to go trough all the grinding to get there! If they laugh at you for being different, turn the table around, and laugh at them because they Are All The Same! You'll win in the end. Shalom!
THE TRUE LIGHT: James 1:4
"Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." - NIV
Let us pray: Father, give me strength in my "furnace" experiences, in Jesus name.
